Weapon of Choice

This is a very broad topic and highly debatable. However here we’ll mention various weapons and who uses them. Thus the choice would not just be dependent on personal preference but also on the availability of the weapon and ammunition.

Pistol used by regular army: Sarsilmaz B6 (9mm)

Pakistan Army has provided regular army units with Sarsilmaz B6 pistols. Sarsilmaz is a Turkish brand, made in Turkey and supplied in Pakistan in collaboration with POF (Pakistan Ordinance Factory).

Pistol used by SSG: Glock 19 (9mm)

The pistol provided to special services group of Pakistan Army is Glock 19, made in Austria.

However, please note that both of these pistols are used primarily because they’re provided by the Government. Personal preference of men in both regular Army and SSG vary a lot and only a very few individuals prefer sarsilmaz or glock as their weapon of choice when it comes to buying their own pistol.

Pistols common in Pakistan Army

Pistols commonly purchased by individuals in Pakistan Army are:

  • Zigana
  • CF 98
  • Beretta
  • CZ P07

This list will keep on updating as we realize that some other pistols are being preferred by Officers & Soldiers in Pakistan Army.

Note that some of these pistols are preferred just because of their cheap cost, like CF 98. Some prefer pistols because of their cosmetic appearence like Zigana. Professional and conceal carry pistols like CZ P07 are preferred by officers who care for accuracy and durability more than cost and cosmetics.

Our recommendation

We at soldiers.pk recommend Glock 19 & CZ P07.

Why both? Glock 19 has a heavy trigger, helpful in training you for good trigger control. This will be helpful when you fire any other weapon with lighter trigger.

Why CZ P07? Because it’s one of the best pistol out there 🙂 But practice mainly on Glock 19.

However, try to practice more with the weapon and caliber which will be more readily available to you.

Basic Rules of FireArm handling

There are few basic rules to understand and always remembered related to any firearm, pistol or rifle. They are:

  1. Always treat the weapon as loaded and chambered. Even if the person handing it over to you says or shows to you that it’s empty. No matter if that person is your father or a General or your instructor. It’s always loaded and chambered until you check it yourself.
  2. Never point your weapon at anyone or anything, at all. Even if you and the other person are sure that it’s empty, you’re not allowed to do that.
  3. Keep the trigger finger out of trigger guard when you’re not about to fire the weapon.
  4. Always konw your targer, and more importantly, know what’s behind that target.

These rules are so important that they should be your reflex and not something that you will ever needed to be reminded about.
