With global coronavirus outbreak, Pakistan is also affected. There are many cases of corona virus infection being reported in Pakistan too.

As of today (13 march 2020), 21 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed by NIH, Pakistan. These 21 are out of 542 tested individuals, that’s around 3.88% positive results among tested individuals.

coronavirus

How many total corona virus cases in Pakistan?

There are many speculations as to how many total coronavirus cases are there in Pakistan. Because healthcare is not properly interlinked and most people avoid going to hospitals until it’s very late, we can’t be sure about exact number of corona cases in Pakistan currently.

Only reliable number we have for now is the NIH website dashboard, which claims that only 21 individuals are found positive for coronavirus, among 542 people whom they tested so far.

But the number can be higher from this and we might see a more clear picture after a few days, as the cases are reported.

Most affected city with coronavirus

As per current statistics, Karachi is the most affected city of Pakistan with coronavirus cases. There are 15 confirmed cases of coronavirus that are reported in Karachi.

Are there any unreported cases?

Many regions are claiming more than reported cases of corona. However nothing can be said for sure until the concerned authorities clarify them.

Captain is the third commissioned officer rank in Pakistan Army (after 2nd lieutenant and lieutenant).

How to become a Captain in Pakistan Army?

There are various ways to become an officer with Captain in Pak Army. Such as:

  • Join Pakistan Army via long course, pass out as 2nd lieutenant and then lieutenant and then captain in fighting arm
  • Join Pakistan Army directly as a captain if you join as a doctor after doing mbbs from civil, or join as software engineer after doing BSCE (or equivalant) from civil setups, etc. This applies on many arms and departments, check for the openings for the year you’re applying in

Which BPS scale is Captain Rank in Pak Army?

Captain rank is equivalent to BPS-17 scale.

2nd lieutenant & lieutenant are also bps-17 scale ranks. However they are on the lower pay scale side while captain is on higher side (slight difference though, not much).

Pay of a captain in Pakistan Army

Pay of a captain is based on bps-17 scale pay structure. It is nearly 70,000 pkr in the start.

Also it may vary based on the corps / arm (or department) one is serving in. For example SSG captains receive almost 9,000 pkr extra. Similarly doctors receive nearly 4,000 pkr extra every month as NPA (non-practicing allowance).

What are the duties of a Captain in Pak Army?

Duties of a captain vary based on the corps / arm / department they are in too.

In fighting arms, they are platoon commanders under the major who is the company commander.

Captains usually also do the duties of adjudant (but mostly done by lieutenants), quarter master (again mostly done by lieutenants if they are available), project officer, etc. too.

In arms like Army medical crops, Engineers, etc. the captain mainly does the duties of their profession.

How many years an officer remains a Captain

This is variable based on the arm and department too.

E.g., mostly in fighting arms the duration of Captain rank is 5 years. For doctors of Army Medical Corps, the duration is 6 years, etc.

What is meant by Honorary Captain

This term usually applies to those people who joined army as soldier, however by the end of service they kept being promoted to the highest regular rank a soldier can achieve (subedar major) and then get promoted to an honorary rank of captain for few months at the end of their service. This is meant to give them honor for being an amazing soldier throughout, however they are practically not deployed or utilized as regular captains of Pakistan Army (hence the term honorary captains).

Honorary rank of Captain in SSG officers

SSG officers, upon passing out, get the rank of captain even if they are lieutenants at that time. This is just a honorary rank till they achieve the rank of captain themselves. However in army documents they are still lieutenants and all their pay and courses etc some based on their original rank. They just wear the rank of captain as an honor for passing out the commando course.

Ok well they might try to justify that this is training and necessary etc. Well it’s not. This is un-officer or un-cadet like behaviour.

There are many other ways to punish someone and condition someone for hardships, but not this. This is disgusting and brutal.

No wonder why the officers of Indian Army lack self respect and moral and ethical values once they themselves are groomed and trained this way.

Just imagine the mindset of these people how they will treat others around them including when they’re in kashmir.

The video of Indian Army cadets being brutally tortured in Indian Army Academy is going viral all over the internet now.

In the recent English paper for matric by Allama Iqbal open university, there was an objectionalable vulgar question. Do you think that this was the right question to be asked? That too from a young teenager.

In the question in spring semester 2016 exam for functional english of matric students, the students were asked to describe their elder sister, including her age, height, physique, looks, attitude, etc.

Couldn’t this be asked about younger person too? Or should this be asked at all in a matric english paper? Why not about any imaginary character the person admires?

Some people question that if we simply replace “sister” with “brother”, will people still object? If not then isn’t it gender biased to complain against this question and not when the same is asked about a brother.

vulgar question about sister in allama iqbal open university matric english exam

Allama Iqbal open university has started inquiry about this incidence already.

What’s your opinion about this? Let us know!

The person who took this beautiful picture of a chinese person carrying a Pakistani Flag on 14th August 2015 in Islamabad captioned it as:

“While we were cycling around the city, this Chinese gentleman was walking alone waving the Pakistani Flag. He could only speak Chinese and he was so happy about celebrating Pakistan’s independence. (Near F-7 Markaz Jinnah Super Islamabad)”

This is just beautiful! isn’t it? I hope they, like us, realize that Pakistan is made for Islam, and celebrating the Pakistan Independence day is like appreciating the effort for the promotion and a life of Islam!

Not everyone who applies for Army gets selected. Same is the case with ISSB for joining Pakistan Army. A lot of people apply in Army every year; a lot of them get rejected by being not recommended in issb, while only a few lucky ones get selected.

The ones who get selected feel like the happiest people in the world, while the ones who get rejected mostly get a depression, which may last longer in some cases.

Once rejected, there are mostly two types of responses:

  • The ones who feel more love and passion for Army and apply again, and if all tries availed already, they still keep loving and supporting Pakistan Army with greater passion
  • The ones who turn against Army and start defaming and criticizing it at every forum (like Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto did when he got in power, he was also rejected in ISSB when he was young)

Well the negative behavior is obviously unjustified. But lets look at the reasons why this occurs and what’s needed to be understood by that candidate who gets rejected in order to calm him down and be comfortable.

not recommended in issb

Army isn’t looking for the best, it’s looking for the Specific

Everyone has their own definition of best. Army has their own best and suitable type. If army selects you, it doesn’t mean that you’re the best, it simply means that you’re of that specific type that Army is looking for.

Similarly, if you’re refused during ISSB, it doesn’t mean that there’s something wrong with you, it simply means that you aren’t of the specific type that army is looking for.

What is Army looking for?

Well this is debatable, but in general, army looks for someone who is:

  • Physically able
  • Mentally stable
  • Have a life
  • Not dumb
  • Not too sharp and not too much intelligent
  • Someone who is easy to tame and isn’t notorious or rebellious (they don’t want someone to test new things in the system, crippling it)
  • Not always looking for brilliant in studies (that’s why they set the limit of 60% for FA to join as an Officer), so that he’s comfortable during his service.
  • Has a life! Not someone who is isolated and focused pin point and doesn’t enjoy life at all.
  • Balanced and stable personality
  • Aware of his surrounding and has good general knowledge

Plus there are many more. These are not at all the points from any official document; they are just general ideas and can be wrong at some point too (please correct me so that I can improve it).

So if you’re rejected from Army during the ISSB selection procedure, stay calm. It’s not that there’s some fault in you, it’s simply that you didn’t seem to be of that specific type that Army is looking for. God may have different and maybe better plans for you and something big awaits to be done through your hands outside military too, that’s why He got you not recommended in ISSB.

As they say “if all good men join military, the civil set up would cripple”.
