This post also answers those people who’re simply interested in knowing what qualification is required to join Pakistan Army in various ranks (Lieutenant, Captain, Major, Lt Colonel, etc.).
Join Pak Army as Major
You can only join Pakistan Army directly as a Major if you’re very well educated.
Currently the option of joining Pakistan Army directly as a Major rank is only available to specialist doctors.
Specialist doctors means the ones who’ve not only done MBBS but also completed their specialization and cleared the exam.
Please note that only FCPS, FRCS or equivalent are considered for Major rank, MCPS, etc are inducted as Captain only.
Join Pak Army as Captain
It’s easy and common to join Pakistan Army directly as a Captain if you’re well educated and have professional degrees that are entertained by Pakistan Army. These include:
- Doctors (MBBS)
- Engineers (including software engineers, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, etc.)
- Psychologists
- Education Corps (depending upon requirements, qualified and educated people of various degrees and departments are inducted)
Join Pak Army as a 2nd Lieutenant
Well if you’ve not completed your graduation, you can join Pakistan Army as a 2nd lieutenant on basis of HSSC degree (FSC, FA, etc.) and become a Captain after almost 3 years.
The detailed requirement for courses vary from time to time and is published on Army Joining website (JoinPakArmy.gov.pk) and can also be inquired from us.

Not directly as captain, but you will have to apply for long course, then you will pass out as a 2nd lieutenant and then will become a captain after 3 years.

No you can not. If you want to be an army doctor then you’ll have to apply as medical cadet for army medical corps. Or you can join after completing mbbs (or during that too).

Sir, i love Pak Army .. I want to become a one man army commando captain or one man army soldier .. There is nothing like one man commando. Commandos work in teams (of 10-20 people usually) and achieve their target.

There are sometimes opportunities for re-induction (especially for doctors) from time to time. Keep checking the newspaper & also stay in touch with local recruitment centre.
However chances are low, so don’t rely on getting re-inducted and do something of your own in your life too.

You need 60% marks in intermediate to be eligible to apply for long course in Pakistan Army.

If you are a male, you can apply for long course after FSC.
If you are a female, you can only join as a nurse, doctor, engineer, computer science graduate or psychologist, aaya, etc. Not as regular fighting arm officer or sepoy / soldier.

You can either become a doctor in army or become a regular fighting arms officer.
Also, Pakistan army does not allow women to be regular fighting arms officers in Pakistan Army

Doctors passout directly as captain. They perform duties as doctor only and are not given duties of fighting arms & infantry etc.

You can apply if they are accidental cuts. If they’re unfit then you will be told in medical.

With due respect.sir i wanted to ask that what is the rank of AFNS ? what are their duty ?is it in the hospitals? or fighting arms? what are further career opportunities after joining AFNS? may they get more education if they wants? will the rank increase as the time of service increase?

Nurses wear the rank of officers but are not considered officers, can not use any officer facility or perks, are not given the pay of officers, etc. Their uniform is different from lady officers of AMC (doctors) too.
The job of nurse is in hospitals like all normal nurses. They are not posted in any units or combat setups.
Rank and pay increases with time.
Further study is an issue in military job and policies change from time to time.

If your marks meet the criteria to apply for PMA long course then you can apply to become a 2nd lieutenant officer in Pakistan Army.
